MEET THE TEAM
R.O.I Media is comprised of a dynamic and young team with each member bringing fresh ideas, life and enthusiasm to every venture with which the company is involved. Despite the fact that all key staff members are under 40, the combined experience and talent they bring to R.O.I represents a level of expertise that belies their ages.
While we have international teams working around the clock to implement our various projects, all our new ideas are hatched from our Head Office, where all projects and clients are managed.
The following team members are based at R.O.I Headquarters in the beautiful, vibrant city of Cape Town - a place filled with vision and a creative energy that filters through to everything we do.
Allen Jaffe - CEO & Leading Light of ROI
Allen Jaffe is the dynamic head of R.O.I Media, the driving force behind our company and the heart of its success. His unbridled passion for the internet has manoeuvred Allen into many online ventures, be it e-commerce or start-up businesses, and he has remained steadfast in his online passions for the past ten years. A vast experience in software development and a love for hatching and nurturing new ideas is part and parcel of Allen's strategies. Allen is your archetypal SEO and Online Marketing guru and considered one of the top SEO experts the world over; offering clients an excellent return on their investment is his main goal for R.O.I Media, hence our namesake.
Allen plays as hard as he works. His hobbies include cycling, remote controlled slope soaring, scuba diving and lightning fast cars. Allen enjoys cooking a meaty steak on his Weber and impressing his troops with his myriad of impersonations. Dynamic, driven and motivated to the core, Allen has realised his dreams with R.O.I Media.
Adam Lotz - Business Development Manager & The Detox master
Adam brings a wealth of experience in business development and economic consultancy work. Our clients benefit enormously from his decade of involvement in developing businesses across a diverse range of fields, from Biotechnology, Retail (food and clothing), Film & Production to Higher Education Management and Economic Consulting.
Now passionate about the Internet and all the possibilities online media offers businesses, Adam has an affinity for starting up and managing innovative online ventures.
When he has a few moments to spare, Adam's hobbies are as varied as his work experience - you can expect to find him hiking, running, fishing, playing golf, and drinking good wine and coffee.
Anna-Bet Bester - Senior Copywriter & Mistress of Wine and fine food
A jack of all trades, Anna-Bet started out by studying Languages at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003, but left before the teetering piles of dusty, academic textbooks could crush her fledgling creative spirit. After dabbling briefly in architecture, she settled in as SEO copywriter for an online travelling porthole based in Stellenbosch.
Upon heeding the unwavering call of the Mother City's vibrant cultural scene, Anna-Bet joined the ranks of R.O.I Media in 2008 after charming management with her unique skill set and solid work ethic.
Immensely outgoing by nature, Anna-Bet's varied acquaintances and interests stand her in good stead when it comes to tackling the broad assortment of assignments that passes an R.O.I copywriter's desk in the space of a day.
Her interests include (in no specific order) dystopian literature, genetics, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gustav Klimt, glasses of chilled white wine on her family's 'stoep' in Riebeek Kasteel, fluffy white duvets and the surreal nature of the copy on the back of cereal boxes.
Steven Norris - Senior Copywriter & James Blunt impersonator
Believe it or not, Steven studied graphic design and photography, and now he sits at the helm of ROI’s web content department. He has been writing for as long as he can remember - it’s his passion. Steven has written website reviews for computers, computer and videos games in the past. He lives for writing, and his single minded goal is to write a website to the top of the search engines.
His transition from graphics was purely driven by his passion for words; he believes words speak louder than a simple photograph which 50 other photographers could have taken.
In the short time that Steven has been here, things have turned around for the better.
Dawie Geldenhuys - Web Coder & "Die Plesurig Afrikaaner"
After time spent serving his country in the South Africa National Defense Force, Dawie completed his IT studies through Northlink College in 2002. Following a stint as Manager at a local nursery he decided to retire from the quiet life of plants and head overseas to the UK where he worked for Virgin Media UK for a period of four years, before returning to his native land. Back home he worked at a local IT solutions company until R.O.I Media snapped him up.
Dawie describes himself as "outgoing, but quiet until you get to know me!" He's happiest in the saddle of his motorbike enjoying a leisurely breakfast run. He enjoys spending time outdoors cycling and hunting but also socializes in the pub and plays computer games when the weather turns cold.
Stephan Marais - Online Marketing Consultant & Don't Fear the soul patch
Stephan has a B.A degree in Tourism Management and Psychology. After graduating he went to Taiwan where he taught English and sampled (ate) what he calls 'weird stuff' for 2 years.
From there Stephan went to the UK where he went into the hospitality industry for 7 months. Upon coming home, he pursued his love for SEO and web marketing, and ultimately ended up at ROI Media as an online marketing consultant.
As an online marketing consultant at ROI, he liaises with just about everyone who has anything to do with the internet; he is a link builder, and that entails getting the right channels for optimum exposure of your website.
In his free time he loves exploring Cape Town.
Candice Petersen - Customer-Supplier Liaison & Resident Nutcase
Candice graduated in September 2007 with a B.A degree in Tourism. While studying, Candice's outgoing personality (she's more bubbly than Moët et Chandon) led her into promotional and marketing-related work experience before she charmed her way into R.O.I. Here she quickly became an indispensable part of the team, liaising with both clients and suppliers across all relevant sites and projects, from plastic surgery to tourism and of course, car and limo hire. Candice can and does handle whatever we throw at her!
Candice is a multi-dimensional person (some would say she has multiple personalities) who loves Playstation and horror movies yet teaches Sunday School. She hates the colour pink and loves cats.
Dane Perring - Intermediate Web Designer - The Michelin Man
Dane joins us after a long stint as a designer for an up-and-coming design agency in Wilderness. His skills were honed at False Bay College and then through a short Web Fundamentals Course.
Always eager to learn and expand his web-design skills, Dane is raring to go on all cylinders and he always brings his considerable passion and talent to the table. When he is not designing eye-catching websites, Dane loves listening to Punk, Hip-Hop & Drum n' Bass music and his favorite band is The Offspring.
Outside of music, his hobbies such as skateboarding and surfing perfectly complement his busy lifestyle and passion for sports such as football, Moto GP, Supercross and Formula One. And after a long day of work, nothing pleases Dane more than going down to the pub for a quiet draught with his mates.
Lyndall Thomas - Customer-Supplier Liaison - The Social Butterfly
Lyndall Thomas is a forward thinking and optimistic individual, who uses her considerable talent and experience in tourism & GES (Geography and Environmental Science), applying it to all facets of her life to great success.
After graduating with her BA in 2007 she worked at the Shoprite-Checkers Head Office and gained loads of experience in organising events for company functions. She has worked in most retail sectors such as beauty and skincare and has a passion for keeping her clients happy.
Outside of work, nothing makes Lyndall happier than a massive Sauls@Vegas platter and a tall Pina Colada cocktail. This loyal individual wants to make her mark on the world, never misses out on a party and cooks with her whole heart. Welcome, Lyndall.
Dean Cannell - Lead Acquisition Specialist - SEO Mack-"Daddy"
Dean is in his own words, 'a diversified experience-junky'. After high-school, Dean spent two years selling "ice to Eskimos", in London, while completing a course in hypnotherapy - the hypnosis seemed to help with his sales; with the legality of this method still pending.
After London, attempting to follow the flock, he completed two monotonous years of studying Psychology and BCOM before realizing his need to do something less conventional. Being an entrepreneur at heart, Dean spent the subsequent years delving into e-business / e-commerce. This desire to be a "black sheep" and learn the ins and outs of e-"return on investment", introduced him to the world of SEO.
Dean is also the proud father of a three year old son, named Luc (French version of Luke - and no, he has no French in his blood). So when he is not working, he is "playing"... with little racing cars and Barney toys.
Kyle Pretorius – Online Marketing Consultant - The Road Warrior
Kyle emerged unscathed from the primordial ooze over 25 years ago, clutching onto a steel bass guitar and a pair of tight, leather pants. His hair is a reminder to DragonBall Z fans worldwide of their hero, Goku and his tattoos, if read backwards can summon a hell beast capable of tearing any man asunder. Kyle is a hard working, fresh fruit loving, sunshade wearing, kung-fu kicking ball of action. His past is mired in the sands of time, unknown to all other than the Old Ones themselves. He brings his unique skills to the considerably challenging field of SEO and has brought much pride to our company. Rock on, Kyle!
Germé Scott - Online Marketing Consultant - The Germinator
Germé is a jolly old fellow, or so he tells us. His serious demeanour hides the working ethics of a man much older than the youthful exterior that portrays him. Germé is an adventurer and enjoys outdoor activates such as fishing, hiking, camping, paint balling, outdoor rock and psytrance festivals (outdoor raves filled with hippies). When he is not living life to the fullest, he tends to his friends as a Sheppard would tend to his flock: socialising with his mates over a braai, at pubs, beaches, anywhere that he can have a crazy time and get away with it. He has a dog and tends to it whenever he comes home from a hard day's work of SEO. He is currently working on his third year of IT Software Development and hopes to further his knowledge in this area. Welcome aboard, Germé.
